Bought some in M&S yesterday which was reduced in price because it was near the sell-by date. It had a salty taste and a texture similar to Edam. It that the way it should be?

Its lovely warm with a salad or in a sandwich with grilled peppers and green leaves. Personally I wouldn't eat it on toast but that's just me. If you do have it with toast, cook it seperately to the toast rather than grill it on the toast - it won't melt like cheddar.
