I understand what you meant Sharingan.
And though it did, at first, sound a bit like you merely admired a criminal because he was 'a character', you clarified that it's not his actions you admire but his spirit.
I agree somewhat on that - I mean I'll bet Hitler or Fred West etc were a hoot round the dinner table.
I'm sure to their friends they were great fun - charming, likable and able to 'work' a room - but that's not really them, that's just the part of them they want you to see. Its a performance really, kind of like confidence tricksters - they know exactly what to say and do for effect.
You'd think that knowing what they were really like would surely colour any enjoyment you could have with them, no matter how hilarious they were, but its their weird 'charisma' that people seem to be drawn to, and seems to make people able to temporarily forget or ignore, the reality...
It goes further - remember Patty Hearst?
I agree it'd be nice to have the guts, sense of self belief and sheer will to do exactly what you want in life - not many people have that, but it comes with consequences - as he has found.
As an aside, Sharingan - no, many people - on all forums - do not seem to read posts properly - they scan and jump in with a response, and you end up having to post over and over trying to clarify what you meant.
That's why these days my posts have got longer and longer ... I am trying to pre-empt the things that people will pull me up on before they do, lol.
