i can understand that some councils, social workers, mental health workers may well have staff who look into the matter of loneliness for the elderly in particular, seeing as many get isolated if their children move away, but to call your self a loneliness officer is just odd, and interface, gawd almighty these jobsworth couldn't come up with a better word.
Well, at least we know what he does. Some job titles are of deep obscurity, suspiciously so, as they may be intended to hide the fact that the job is completely pointless. This title suggests no pretence, whether the job is pointless or not. Pity about 'interface' though .
Loneliness is a big problem especially for recently bereaved older people. It is definitely worthy of attention. Whether that should be done by a council employee or someone from a Charity such as AgeUK is the question. Lonliness can have many many health side effects which may actually cost more to put right if not treated.
