I remember when playing tennis at school we were never allowed to have two hands on the raquet ever, let alone doing a backhand, the times I've hurt my wrist cos it was too heavy, two hands would have been great!!!
I like watching rugby, don't understand most of it, but I like the spirit in which it's played.
I've tried to understand cricket, and some kind ab'ers have tried to explain the rules,
the side who's in, tries to stay in whilst the other side tries to get them out.
Then the other side tries to do the same. and the side who was in, tries to get them out too.
And I lived within spitting distance of the All England courts for 15 years and never set a foot inside. I can remember listening to the loudspeakers from our garden, so you could hear what was going on. And they took away most of our school buses to transport spectators to and from the tennis - bloomin' cheek. They used the keen sporty kids from local schools for ball boys and girls - but they never chose me!!
I was also virtually brought up on a cricket fields. My dad was a keen cricketer and every weekend I was taken to cricket matches and ate cricket teas.
Two of my elderly aunties lived in Southfields. One of my Aunts back garden (my rich Show Bizzy Aunt) backed on to the Courts. I lived about 1/4 mile away, if tha.
