I have just learned a new word: a mondegreen

I receive Ian Rankin's newsletters, and in the most recent one it said:

Well, Standing In Another Man’s Grave is finally out in paperback here in the UK. As some of you will know, it takes its title from a mondegreen, meaning a misheard song lyric. For some time, I’d thought my friend the musician Jackie Leven had been singing about ‘standing in another man’s grave’ – it was only when I saw the lyrics that I realised it was rain he was standing in. But by then it was too late – I had my title.

Must try to drop it into a conversation soon!

they have killed the Earl of Moray and Lady Mondegreen, wasn't it? For "laid him on the green". Scuse me while I kiss this guy.

'Egrets, I've had a few,' was a puzzler to me.
I was happily humming "are we human or are we hamsters?" for ages
There are some good ones here from a couple of years ago.
