My wife wears a below knee prosthetic leg,on the 4th June when passing through security coming home from Turkey a stupid customs official lifted her leg off the wheelchair footrest and yanked at her prosthetic leg in an attempt to pull it off.It hurt and brought tears to my wife, the official then walked away. Since then she has suffered a great deal of pain in her hip and down her thigh towards the stump. 10 days ago her doctor said it wasn't anything serious and prescribed Algesal cream. However although the cream helps for a short time the pain returns and doesn't seem to be getting any better . Is this a problem that will take weeks to get better or could there be another problem.
What with this and her consistent Phantom pain her quality of life is awful at present.

Did you put in a complaint about the official at the airport? No one should be treated like that, it's awful. I feel so sorry for your poor wife.
\\\ Is this a problem that will take weeks to get better or could there be another problem. \\\

Two very good questions.

That was an extremely upsetting incident at the airport and quite unnecessary in my opinion.

Now the questions: I cannot say with confidence that there is no debilitating underlying problem with the hip.

my advice would have been to take Ibuprofen 600mgs up to three times a day if necessary and monitor the situation for the next 6 weeks.
It could well be just a muscular strain, but one cannot rule out at this stage an arthritic problem in the hip.

A matter of waiting and see.
What an awful way to treat someone! Has she ever had this kind of pain before (in her hip) or only since this incident?

I tried Sharingan, but it was like beating my head against a brickwall. They just didn't want to know.
I can well imagine theyre obstructive and unhelpful.Try here on their online complaints form, it only takes a little while to fill in, also out the same in writing to them.

Choose 'I am unhappy about the professional conduct of UK Border Agency staff or contractors' on the first page and take it from there. They really can't be allowed to behave like this.

Sharingan ,
this happened in Antalya airport Turkey.

Pixie,
she has had some arthritis in the hip area for years but never this serious since the incidence.
I imagine it could be a few weeks to ease, especially if she also has arthritis in it. Go with sqad. I hope she feels better soon
