Ths is not an attack on atheists. I accept their are good atheists out there, as there are good muslims, jews etc. However what really bugs me s that atheism comes from a belief that there is no god. Atheists find the concept of god unbelievable.

if this is the case, why constantly debate with people who believe then, if you dismiss everything they say?

Both Tony Blair and George W Bush said they prayed for guidance from God about the involvement of their countries in the invasion of Iraq.

Their ultimate decision was taken after rejecting the advice of inspectors sent to determine the actual state of the supposed weapons of mass destruction. The advice turned out to be correct.

They allowed their faith to prevail. Countless numbers of people died and more had their lives ruined as a consequence. Trillions of dollars were wasted.

And some here wonder why I speak so strongly against religion.

beso I have heard members of organised religions say that they hate to hear people say "I have prayed about this" because what the person actually means is "This is what I have decided but if I say i have prayed about it, you can't argue with me and it won't be my fault if it all goes wrong."

to say you 'know' its illogical and has no foundation, and that you cant explain it etc, but you just choose to believe it because you want to ... is frankly bizarre.

for people like keyplus and goodlife, they 'sort of' cant help the way they are - it is so ingrained in them and they are utterly convinced for whatever reason - it is not a reasoned 'choice' to them

To be fair, in spite of whatever nonsense they may have said on the subject, I doubt that Bush or Blair's decisions to go to war with Iraq had anything at all to do with their supposed religious beliefs.

The problem is Naomi in the definition of 'facts and evidence ' .

The Theist believes that the words in the bible are strong evidence in themselves.

They believe in a God not because of evidence that there is one but because there is no evidence that there isn't.

eg There is no evidence that little green men don't live on Mars therfore they do .
