We have a very large hydrangea in full sun it seems to thrive out there and at our last house we had one in the shade, so you should be alright wherever it is planted, make sure it is well watered before you plant it out and keep it well watered until it has established in your garden.
Remember to leave the flower heads on it as they will protect the flower buds throughout the winter months, trim them off in the spring when the leaves start to break into bud
