Got a call from chest clinic this morning cancelling by appointment for later today. They explained that results from last week's MRI scan confirmed I didn't have lung cancer and therefore didn't been to see consultant. Came as a bit of a shock as cancer had never been mooted before.

They were maybe hoping not to scare you! Really good news though x
I can understand your shock, but it is jolly good news!

Despite the problems within NHS I have received nothing but first class treatment over the last 12 years. GP referral leading to early consultant clinic followed by diagnostic tests and treatment as appropriate. During my working life I always had private medical insurance, but now find NHS every bit as good.

good afternoon McMouse

a sigh of relief for you from me
Jaysus, McMouse what a shocker but what a relief as well.
Wow..what a double whammy for you there McMouse ! Maybe just as well you didn't know what they were looking for on reflection, i'm very pleased for you. I agree the NHS do rise to the challenge when necessary.
great news for you x
Really pleased for you :)
Well at least you didn't have to worry about cancer. I am really pleased the news is good.
All sounds very odd...............
If I remember correctly (please correct me) last year, you had a mitral valve replacement or some other cardiac surgical intervention.

There must have been a reason for doing an MRI scan....didn't they say?
McM - good news ♥
thats good news :-)
Wow, think of the millions of things they failed to rule out !

Agree it was odd sqad. Following mitral valve repair and by-pass cardiac and respiratory teams have been investigating continued shortness of breath and wheezing, with view that asthma or emphysema could be the cause. Chest X-ray showed a shadow on lung hence MRI scan. Scan reveals shadow to be very old scar tissue and not cancer.
LOL....that makes sense now........so i will now say.....that IS good news.
re mri..........there is no better answer than '' old scar tissue '' well done, but I hope you get your problem diagnosed and treated .
thank your lucky stars it was good news.
Good news Mr Mouse ! My Mum died of lung cancer and it wasn't a pretty sight. Fingers crossed for you !
That is good news and what a relief to know :)

Same sort of thing happened to my husband when he was having a lot of trouble with stomach pains, refux etc. He's had a kidney tranplant so kept complaining about it everytime he went to clinic so they sent him for tests and when he went for the results they told him "well we were convinced you had stomach cancer but it isn't that...." He was relieved to hear that but also shocked as they had never said one word about stomach cancer to him!
