Not sure if it's the original, but the best known version is by Peggy Lee, dating back to 1958. Loads of people have recorded it, including Helen Shapiro and, much more recently, Madonna.

Littleoldme's bang on there, but I just wanted to draw attention to the fantastic soul version, by "Marie "Queenie" Lyons, on the "I'm a Good Woman 2" comp. Could that be the version you mean?
