Swollen Elbow

I've just noticed that I have a swelling on my elbow, and thanks to Google I think that it may be bursitis, as it's not painful or red - I think that I probably lean on that elbow when reading etc. Is there anything I can do to reduce the swelling, as I can't see a doctor until monday as I feel that it's not urgent, and we have a really busy weekend ahead! I can't take anti-inflammatories, due to previous liver problems (but could I use an ointment containing anti imflammatories?) and also my kidneys are not good, I'm already on Tramadol for long term back problems, and take other pills for various diabetic caused problems. Would there be any point in ice packs or similar? Thanks for any help.

An ice pack would be a good idea to try. It won't do any harm. Obviously, try to rest it and not lean on it, too.
And, fwiw, I don't think ointments make a difference, unless you're actually treating the skin.

Thanks Pixie, will go and hope there are some peas in the freezer.
Give it a try. Sqad might be along later with some ideas x
If it is not painful or red..........leave it well alone.

No big deal until you see your GP on Monday who may aspirate it ( draw off the fluid.)
