One feature of Boris Johnson is that he is able to make perfectly plain what he thinks, it is contrary to what Cameron thinks, and yet not say so in terms. Asked by Paxman whether, having £600 million, he would spend it on gifts to married couples , he replied that Cameron had promised that and he admired him for his courage in sticking to his promise ! Most politicians, asked to criticise their leader, would faff around and not answer the question at all.
I like reading Boris's speeches as there are some gems that I miss when listening. Having met the guy on several occasions I can testify he is not a slown.
I had no view on Boris till I read one of his newspaper articles on the NHS when i was involved in the reorganisation locally. The article was long and involved but 100% factually accurate and an excellent summing up of the situation and issues at the time. I was reading everything i could get my hands on at the time, and this was the only piece of writing that got it right. his opinions may not be my opinions but of his intelligence and ability to communicate when he chooses to, there is no doubt in my mind.
