Has Someone Got Room In Their Heart And Home For This Poor Dog?

I have fostered dogs for this small charity and I hope the Ed will let me put out this plea for one of their longer term residents. The cold weather is here and Copper, a 14-year-old Doberman/X is about to spend his second winter in freezing kennels. He has waited 18 months for a home and is still waiting and it is taking its toll on his health as you can see if you click on page 8 on the following link.

If you can't adopt him permanently then could you offer him a foster home for a while? He would be so grateful. The ideal placement would be as an only pet as he doesn't much like other dogs or cats and he does have separation anxiety. On the plus side he loves people, is undemanding, enjoys his walks which would ideally be in a low dog density area. He is very happy to snooze the day away in front of the fire afterwards.

I can post an adoption form or a foster form for anyone who feels they could help Copper, or you can find it on the website. Thanks for reading. X

When you think of all the people who might be saying 'oh, lets get a puppy for Christmas', this really is sad.

I agree Psybbo, without the likes of this chap a lot more dogs would be PTS. The trouble with rescue dogs that have to be homed in a single dog household is that most people that would take him already have a dog. My pooch wouldn't accept another dog without an awful lot of preparation and even then I wouldn't trust him.

Hopefully Copper might start to accept other dogs giving many more homing options for him.

's OK Tilly, not much to tell really was there. Let's hope things move forward this weekend. For John's sake as much as Copper's. X

I'm not in a position to help Copper directly by fostering/adopting (would love to)
But this has made me think about fostering pooches, they'd have to put up with my mad mutt who is a sociable beastie.

John is a wonderful man. I hope he's better soon.
Sometimes I can't stand certain human beings and prefer the company of animals.
Wonder if they have tried putting him on the Oldies Club website? They advertise older dogs for any other rescue organisations as well as their own and because they specialise in older dogs they know that people visiting their website are really interested in an older dog. We have rehomed several via them and they have all had wonderful homes much quicker than if it was just left to us advertising.

Funny you should say that Lankeela, I looked on The Oldies website last night in the 'Overlooked Oldies" and there were several of Rescue Remedies dogs on there but not Copper. So I know they do use them in fact that was where I first came across RR. But I do remember the lady that runs RR saying that they were going to ask them or had already asked them to do a feature on him. I shall check it out now you have reminded me. Thanks.

Yes he's there, and it's been updated as Urgent but still no luck. Oh dear.

Thank you Lankeela.

One of Rescue Remedies volunteers has designed a poster for Copper to get him a home. If any of you could print this off and post in your local park or dog walking areas or wherever you think suitable that would be a very kind thing to do. You never know ...

Thank you.
