We have a must have consummer society who must have at any cost. The lack of respect and helping each other has not quite dissapeared, but we are getting there. Fear of speaking our minds without being harrased by certain action groups. The governments policies of the late 1970`s and 80`s which decimated of local communities, by closing down industries....

lower classes with even lower morals and scruples, gosh you didn't get that right, many so called lower classes had more morals, scruples than the upper classes who weren't not averse to shagging anything that moved, including the poor house maids, some who produced children who were promptly sent off to the workhouse and she consigned their as well.

the two wars changed everything, the class system, the hierarchical system and our way of life, many of the changes have been more than beneficial, better health care, better housing, sanitation, food that is plentiful, and rarely do children die of once incurable diseases, so there is a lot to be thankful in modern times. However it has brought a certain sense of entitlement, i want it now mentality, not good when you borrow money you don't have, because you want the big tv, car, better to save some for a rainy day, because the one thing you can't predict is losing your job, your partner, and finding that life doesn't treat you kindly thereafter.

steve, it was the lower classes comments that did it, most if not all the families i grew up with were in work, mother, father, aunties, uncles, friends, they were not slackers, shirkers, some had reason to not work, having survived the wars, some seriously injured, but had some form of work.
it was considered shameful if you didn't have a job, and in a time of enough work to go around, most had one.
