Yes I saw that earlier, sandy, the youngest coin is from 1894.

I don't think a metal detector would detect gold would it?

I think gold would set off a signal in a metal detector. There was a man on one of the Antique Roadshow programmes who said he'd found a gold ring dating from the Middle Ages using one.
I'm sure it does, a small haul was found near here recently by a metal detectorist.
All I have at the end of my garden is a crock of ordure.

You may not have precious metal in your garden but the rhubarb plants must be gems.
