Did anyone watch the film tonight called "The boy in the striped pyjamas?" If so, what did you think of it?
I thoroughly enjoyed it. Very thought provoking at the end though.

I didn't watch it tonight, but I have seen it. I thought it a great pity that the film failed to convey the end of the story as it is written in the book because that really was thought provoking. That said, film or book, both unforgettable.

I have seen it in the past and am a huge admirer of this film. In fact I'd go as far as saying it's a must see and if I could, I'd find a way to make every person watch it!

i rather think the film sanitised the the book, the ending is a heart breaker though

I'm not brave enough to read the book. My daughter started it but couldn't get to the end as she knew what was coming but I think she's watching it in school today though, she'll be sobbing. :(

All my grandchildren have watched it at school, I saw it a few years ago.

It made a big impression

documentaries, testimonies from people who survived the camps had a bigger impact on me, and visiting the places where it happened.

SPOILER IN HERE .............I have read the book but not seen the film. Did the film change the end whereby the German boy was swept up in the holocaust?

Haven't seen the film or read the book but my grandson's class all read it in S1 at school. They would all be 11/12 years old at that time. He didn't say a lot about it.

Not read the book, but seen the film. Very chilling. lynbrown - the young German boy ended up being gassed along with the little Jewish boy - horrible ! A good film though.

I saw the film too on TV - a tad little boring at the beginning but very sad at the end.
