It seems so strange that on the news section, we often see various celebrities deaths entered for condolences and comments, and yet the Brother in Law of the heir apparent dies in an unfortunate freak accident but this hasn't until now been put up for similar responses.

What a terrible accident to happen to anyone celebrity or otherwise RIP.

Agree with Gromit.

From what I've read, he appears to have laid out facts, not opinions.
Nothing like the death of a stranger to bring out the best in folk.

Just to put the record straight you were the second to answer my thread, the first put a sympathetic response in line with the story.

/// i read this in my paper this morning, very sad . ///

And then you put this unsympathetic response.

/// Never heard of him.

Know nothing about him.

He is the brother of Charles' mistress / second wife.

Tens of thousands of people who I do not know die every day. This is just another one. It doesn't bother me one way or the other. ///

Which in turn set others off down this track of equally unsympathetic anti Royal posts.

I am often accused of stating a person's religion, or ethnicity when they happen to be the criminals, but you appeared to find it necessary to point out that he was the brother of Charles "Mistress & "Second Wife" when my headline quoted that he was Camellia's brother, are you naive enough into believing no one would know who Camilla was without the need for you to further clarify that fact?
Without wanting to labour the point, this unfortunate man's claim to fame was that his sister had committed adultery with our future king. Camilla is more than Charles' second wife, he had broken his marriage vows with her.

This man was not a celebrity or self pubicist. I have never seen him in the limelight, I never even knew about his existance until his unfortunate demise.

So how can I feel anything for him, nevermind set off a thread about how sad it all is? Hundreds of thousands of people lose a sibling, and if we know them we can offer genuine sympathy. I'm not going to weep crocodile tears for someone I hadn't heard of until yesterday
I agree with Gromit.

Well put Gromit, good post.
I agree. How can we feel grief over someone whose existence we were previously unaware of? It turns out he did a lot of work supporting conservation of elephants; good for him, but I knew nothing of it before his death.
