Theres a mouse in the house

As I was sitting in bed last night watching tv, a very healthy looking mouse ran out from under the wardrobe and sat in the middle of the room washing his nose, so I said hello, which made him stop and run back again.

Question is, how on earth do I catch him. I don't know where he is in the house now, and I would never use poison or traps. Any ideas?.

I think you can buy humane traps from somewhere (petshops???) then yu can release them outside, my only problem would be that where's there's one mouse..........
,,,,,,theres a hundred more to go with it!!!!!!!
ps. when you do catch little mouse. Release it far away from where you live cos they can come back if you don't. (a few miles away does it I think) Use the search, someone asked about this not long back.
It may be just one who sneaked in - but check you haven't any crumbled plaster/wainscoting anywhere, just in case. You can get a humane trap for about a fiver - they're very effective and easy to use. Crumbled chocolate biscuit or garibaldi is the best bait (forget cheese!). And place the trap up against the wall overnight.

You sound quite cool about him though!
Many petshops and garden centres will sell humane mice traps which capture the mouse without harming it. Like you I find them so sweet I couldn't bear to hurt them. But remember my cautionary tale - they nested under warm bonnet of my car when it was garaged at night and they chewed all the wiring. It cost me 200 to have the dashboard removed and the problem corrected so try to solve the problem quickly in case your mouse has friends who want to go on a cable chewing orgy ! Release it as far as possible from your house because these little creature can run half a mile a lot quicker than you can !! Cheese, biscuits or peanuts will tempt it into the trap.
I found they like peanut butter....

ok, cool, thanks all - so I shouldn't really just ignore him or bring him into the family no? lol, Think I might leave this one to the landlord to sort! But of course will insist that it isn't killed.

Think I miss my cats so much that I relish the company!, but the landlord's allergic :o( so they're with a foster family for now.

The house is a bit of a building site at the moment, so i'm not convinced getting rid of this one is going to solve the problem. we'll see!

Don't I know that problem?
My cats always bring them in, play with them for a while, then lose interest and let them go.

The traps haven't worked for me so far...
The only thing is, being quick enough, when you see him, throw a towel over him, or corner him and pick him up with a towel or thick glove (they bite), and put him outside.

You could consider using an ultra sonic repeller (theres loads of brands if you search om google, or you may find them in homebase or other homey type stores) It won't enable you to catch the mouse, but emits a high pitched sound which mice cant stand so it will drive them away!
