Mm Links Results June 2014 Week 1

Here we are at the start of what could very well be the final month of the M game.

Sadly, the start was somewhat overshadowed by the sad news, posted on Friday's 'Shrubbery' thread, that Mrs Rockfordill had suddenly passed away. Our condolences and sympathy go out to Rockfordill.

This month's challenges are being set by the 'King Penguin' himself. Fortunately, he gave you all an easy start with the following gentle selection:

ROCK CLIMB
ORDNANCE SURVEY
LASER PRINTER
THIRD DEGREE

The only surprise was that nobody managed a clean sweep of all four links.

I love it when my abacus lights up people's names in a range of colours - green for 1 hit, blue for two hits and orange for 3 hits. Sadly no reds this week for 4 hits.

Nevertheless, NINE players failed to score! (They stayed black.) How easy do you have to make it?

First player, beejay1124, immediately picked off two matches, ORDNANCE SURVEY and THIRD DEGREE for four points.
That opened the 2-minute bonus window for these two links and roslyn251254, BigMac, rockfordill and owllady (for 'Ordnance Survey') and deecee131, BigMac, tearinghair, rockfordill and owllady (for 'Third Degree') took advantage of that for two points on each link.

Fifth player, Christiana then claimed LASER PRINTER (She can have mine - It needs replacing as it is held together with string!). For that she claims 2 points along with tearinghair, Strix and middlestump

The final link didn't have to wait long. Middlestump matched ROCK CLIMB at just 9:04 (2 points)

Now I have a dilemma. We have six equal top-scorers on 4 points. Do I pick one of them to be HotShot?

Better still, we have no less that THREE triple-hitters, pixie373, ulysses100 and Nibble - but all on 3 points. Who is it to be?

I really cannot choose between them, so unless a late player comes along in the next 15 mins with a clean sweep (Where are you Eccles?) we have three equal hotshots.

I came in this evening at around 5.30 from over 4 hours of mowing, sat down at the computer, with a glass of vino collapso and thought about the links.
Idiot I thought, as I thumped my forehead in annoyance, of course it's going to be Ordnance Survey.
Oh such is "esprit de l'escalier"!
p.s. In the next set of photographs can we have one of you as a student at St A's.
Either Raisin Monday or the Mayday dip will do!

Sorry, The May Day Dip wasn't an event in my days Strix and no photos have survived of 'Raisin Monday'. In any case, any pictures taken with MY camera only ever include 'other people'.

Coincidentally I was the only one in my year at Newcastle (1964 -1971) who had a camera. An Olympus Pen-D (a half-frame).
So the same holds true for me as well about photos of oneself --
--- apart from one of two when one or other of my "friends" snuck it off me.

Changed my mind on Ordnance survey. Thought it was too obvious!
