Hi ABers i have been a diet for a couple of months now, to try and loose weight and i think all the friut and veg is giving an upset tummy (aka the runs). I was alright when i started but the past 2 weeks i have an upset tummy. I have gone from eatting no fruit and veg to eatting it every day. Will my body get used to my new diet or will i have to change it back again? I have lost some weight upto now.

P.S I have rheumatiod arthritis which means i cant do any exercises, so i cant shift the weight that way. oh by the way i am only 30, just thought i would add that, because poeple think of my illnes with old people and not a 30 year old. Cheers Honey xXx

I am finding the same honeyboo. I just assumed that my tummy is getting used to the new healthy regime and am not too worried. I have been eating loads of fruit and veg and really enjoying it, but my tummy is rebelling!

Oh, and I meant to say, I was first diagnosed with osteo arthritis in my neck at 18. I am 59 now and the arthritis is affecting a lot more of me. People are still saying to me that I'm too young to be arthritic!! Arthritis is no respector of age. I am lucky enough to be able to walk reasonably well and do go swimming when I can, but gym and aerobic exercise classes are a definite no no!
Too many veggie's can be hard on your digestion process because your body has to work harder. I was very surprised to learn about this. Italians often eat salad AFTER dinner because it helps your body digest other foods, BUT at the same time if you ingest too much is makes your body work harder. Whats difficult to digest is the skin on a lot of veggies (potatoes, apples, orange rhines, lettuce, green beans, carrots, coliflower cucumbers etc) any veggie "skin" is tough . If you cook more of the veggies you intake, that will be easier to digest. Raw food is more difficult.

Yeah i am enjoying my new diet too, i think i will just stick with it and see how i get on.

I was diagnosed at 15, i have it in all my joints and muscles. I am not house bound or anything, i can get aroud ok i just have to make sure not to do to much. xXx

Try eliminating a particular fruit or vegetable for awhile and see if that solves the problem. Do it with each fruit and vegetable and overtime you may discover which one is causing the problem.

i'm not on any diet but love fruits and vegetables. i have, however, discovered that if i "pig out" on canned pears i will develop diarrhea, so i've learned to reduce my intake. Same problem with canned olives.
