I was gobsmacked when in a (quite posh) cocktail bar in Edinburgh to see that they offered a cocktail made of Buckfast and Irn Bru.
Sadly I cannot remember what they called it and I certainly didn't try it.
So, it must be being drunk in the East.....or were they being 'ironic' ?

I've looked it up...it's called the Irn-Buckfaster and as well as Irn Bru and Buckfast it also has whisky in it....specifically Bells.
They must have been being ironic......or out to get a fast buck....see what I did there?

The connection between Buckfast and Portadown was memorably celebrated in Newton Emerson's wonderful Portadown "Four Ulsterbuses of the Apocalypse" News At the time I had no idea what it was but it sounded revolting :-)

Grew up in Ayrshire mired in the sectarian BS, to most booze was just booze as youngsters. I've never come across a divided booze structure before, doesn't mean it doesn't happen mor likely to be the cheapest lager folk can find
