Did you run into somebody then ?

No, but I am amazed by how many have one or often two not working.
I have a light on the dash telling me there is a bulb not working - even tells me which side.......
Its really hard ignoring it right up to the MOT.
Quoi, what tells you the warning light doesn't work?
Its not really a warning light as such now I think about it - its a mesage through the satnav system - oops.
I always check the brake lights when I reverse on the driveway to make sure the message isnt lying to me.

I trusted my high level brake light as it is an LED rather than a bulb.

However when I checked them it was out. The wire that jumps to the tailgate finally snapped after years of opening and closing.
Yeah there's a film with the Tagline:
have you checked the kids ?

horrific
East way to check them, I use a Wheel Wrench Bar up against the Drivers Seat.
Another way of checking, reverse up to the garage door ( or wall ) and look at the glow from them in your mirror.
Just get the wife or gf to stand behind the car, preferably if they are naked, and light them up in red when you hit the brakes!

Yep....I've got two drives... one that leads up to my studio/study and one to my garage and at night easy to see brake lights in car mirrors reflecting off them.
So you were one of the people who didn't notice the lights not working then!
Talking about brake lights - driving behind a new shape model VW Golf when it decided to turn left just ahead braking very suddenly just before turning left - no indicators. Or so I thought. The driver did indicate to turn left but because the brake lights are so bright you can hardly see or make out the very slim narrow indicators. This is very dangerous.
So beware when driving behind a new shape VW Golf - keep your distance.
The indicators aren't very visible in the lights cluster.
There's also many cars driving round with either one headlight and a side light or just one headlight

and to take up fanriffics point about hard to see indicators, some modern cars (not really into cars so don't know makes/models) have small circular indicators located inside larger circular rear/brake lights so when the rear lights are on the indicators are hard to see when used.

indicator lights should be large enough to be seen and should be located on each corner of the rear of the vehicle - not tucked away inside another light just because it looks different/edgy/fashionable (struggling to find the right word!)
Glad you agree with me joeluke - indicators should be well positioned on the cars and clear to see. The will be an increase in new VW Golfs' being rear-ended as a result of their poor indicators design.
No.
Don't have a car.
