Has anyone out there got a boss who insists on using really naff phrases several times a day? I do and we (me and two of the guy's) have devised a company Bingo game where we check off the 'key'phrases as we hear them - 'ye know!' It makes boring day's 'potentially' little more exciting.

You haven't devised this....It was started around 4 years ago as an email under the title "W@nk word bingo" and was described as a game to liven up dull meetings......Let's push the envelope and be proactive not reactive, we have to think outside the box on this one...run it up the flagpole and see who salutes.
we used to play it then our boss told us to stop "fannying about" so we stopped, and resumed once "fannying about" had been addded to the official company bing word list

Ned, I'll get my people to talk to your people and we can touch base afterwards.
You're treading on very thin ice......... Buttons' boss

as long as we 'stay ahead of the game' we'll be fine - ye know
My new boss has learnt all her phrases from a 1990s buzzword book.. If I again have to 'think outside of the box' and be 'proactive instead of reactive', or give 'a ballpark figure' I'll scream... So let's just park it on a double-yellow and see if it gets a ticket.... ;)
God... Where to begin!!! Here's a short list... 20) "in the fullness of time" 19) "unquestionably" 18) "hello peeps" 17) "thank you sooo much" 16) "hand on heart" 15) "so what you're saying is..." 14) "it goes without saying" 13) "reasonably urgent" 12) "oh pooh" 11) "you have my word" 10) "bigtime" 9) "yerst" 8) "good moaning" 7) "let me answer your question with a question" 6) "my friend" 5) "fairly obviously" 4) ".....just as a by the way" 3) "to cut a long story short..." long story always follows 2) "not too bad, not too bad" 1) "mmmm bye bye" (farewell on phone) These are just a few of the numerous phrases that our boss comes out with. Once in a while would be ok, but when they are repeated day after day it gets mind numbing.
