Rover 75 Clutch

I recently had the slave cylinder which provides the hydraulics for the clutch replaced.
When I press the pedal the clutch engages but the pedal will only come half back . If I keep the pedal pressed while manoeuvring the clutch locks on. I have to stall the engine pull the pedal back with my toe and then the clutch works again.
What is going on? Any brilliant insights would be welcome.
As long as I pull the pedal back with my toe after every use the clutch is fine.

My brilliant insight is to take it to a qualified mechanic for a diagnosis......that's what I'll do, as there is a chance it might be just a lubrication job on the pedal to fix it or might be more involved and an expensive fix...but at least you'll know. Good luck, dude :-)

Take your car back to where the slave cylinder was replaced, sounds like they have replaced the slave cylinder and not bled the system.

As others have said, phone the garage with your issue & ask them to come out to sort the problem out, this problem can cause an accident, & if you possibly try and claim off the garage that had done the job, they will try & clear themselves by stating the same, that's my opinion.

Thank you guys. I had taken it to the garage who did the work and they bled the system but it made no difference. I was hoping to redirects him to allow him findthe fault. I will try and suggest the spring as there does not seem to be any fluid loss

Had a look on some of the Rover forums and it seems this clutch problem is quite common on the 75's. They say that you must change the master cylinder as well as the slave cylinder.

As suggested by Tonyav it's always a good idea to change both master and slave cylinders as both have been used the same number of times and therefore equally worn. he other possibility is, if the garage only used a cylinder repair kit, rather than a total new cylinder, and did not clean up any 'wear ridges' from the inside of the bore(using very very fine wet and dry paper) the new seals could easily be catching on the inside of the cylinder, preventing the return movement.
