Just been having a look on eBay and there is a Metamec Sunburst/starburst wall clock for sale at £36 plus postage. I had one of these in the early 70s which I gave away. Maybe I should make more use of the loft to store the things I no longer use just in case!

They have become quite collectible in the last few years. I think that Retrochic recently sold one to someone in BC.

I should qualify that by saying the vintage ones made in Dereham, Norfolk are collectible. The newer ones are not, as far as I know anyway.

I was given one as a wedding present by an auntie - never evn took it out of the box - if only I knew that I only needed to hoard it for 35 years before cashing in big time.....drat.

In the early '80s, our girls had a Fisher Price village, bought for about £5 by my mother, which was a lot then for a toy. I've seen on ebay that the table with a parasol on a spring can cost almost £5 now, I'm not sure I'm going to let the grandchildren play with it any more. Luckily, we kept a lot of their toys, most of which are now "vintage".

Maggiebee £ 36 is a bargain!! the last Metamec Sunburst clock I sold on Ebay sold for £125 lol! I've just sold a Metamec in need of major TLC for £40. Very very trendy at the moment.

Hi Stuey - Yes I sold a Metamec Sunburst to a buyer in Abbotsford BC. Thankfully they all come to bits to make a 'small parcel' . They are becoming harder and harder to buy in auction as they are so popular -a few years ago you could buy them for £10 now you have to pay at least £40- 50 at auction sales.

There are loads of things I threw out years back which I wish I'd kept and sold now - Bush portable radio, my old Hornby train set, collectors' biscuit tin - hindsight is a wonderful thing!

boxtops -I've just bought a Bush portable radio and it will be going in the shop with a £95 price tag - hot hot hot a the moment. At an auction recently a hornby train set with loads of 'extras' had a guide price of £100 -£120 -two bidders bid it up past £1000 -crazy! Retro stuff is just so popular now I wish I'd bought it all up 10 years ago when you couldn't give Ercol or G-Plan furniture away - now its going for more money than 19th century stuff -hindsight certainly is a wonderful thing!
