He didn't fib.True to his word he stood down and resigned when Thanet didn't elect him. He was then asked by his party to return as they didn't want to be seen as a third leaderless,rudderless party.Can't criticize their decisiveness unlike the the other two dithering also rans.

I think he's hit the nail right on the head here. The Euro was a vanity project by France and Germany and its failed miserably. Pity we are all going to have to pay the price as usual! I see they are going to screw even more money out of us in the next year. Apparently we are being punished because our economy is doing well! We will also get less rebate because we apparently took too. I have out of the structural fund than usual. Hang on a minute, aren't we among the very few Nett contributors??? It's the EU who haven't had their finances balanced in, what is it, 19 or so years!!!

Oh! Wow! That was some speech. It encapsulated a lot of my basic feelings and concerns.

Well, I voted UKIP (in a safe Tory seat) in order to express my deep concerns about the Eu. Now I think I may well join the party. I'm serious.

If only we had such plain orators expressing all the divergent views.

Interesting that Khandro (lives in Germany) posted this and I (lived 15 years in France) am so moved by it....
