Or X factor even looking for a fecking LINK
I would support the long holiday after A levels being used for 'national service'. 6 weeks, that's all, and it could change lives. NS would include all sorts of voluntary services and the aim would be to broaden minds and experience. Certificates could be issued to help boost personal profiles.
For those not attempting 'A' levels, that time could also be used to do 'National Service' of various kinds - a longer spread, perhaps a year. This would give valuable experience and certification of effort and experience.
Just a thought.

It's pointless, the 'good' kids wouldn't need a certificate, they would have plenty of other meaningful certificates. The scortes wouldn't have even made it to A levels. I have one child who (on current form) will probably need a short, sharp shock at some stage in her life but my others don't need to perform some sort of NS to become better people.
