Avensis Trip Computer

Has anyone else got a wildly optimistic Trip Computer on their 2003 Toyota Avensis - displays 50+ mpg actual about 35-40. If so is there a cure as my local dealer can't help.

I keep finding a shortcut to 'visit.us' on my desk top with I think is put there from a very annoying pop-up. Every time I delete it, it reappears. Is there any way of blocking this site?
