smelly ear wax!!

For about 2 weeks my cavvy has a strange smell coming from his ears. We have cleaned with a soft damp cloth but it keeps coming back. It just looks like ear wax. Other than this he is fit and well....

I foolishly let an aluminium saucepan boil dry.

It's not distorted or damaged but is hideously blackened both inside and out. As it's one of my favourite cooking pans, what's the best way of trying to rescue it?
