dvd rom drive

when i insert a cd or dvd into my drive,nothing happens and the disc is not recognised. any suggestions? it is a packard bell using windows vista. please help

I have a purple Acer in a tub that is beautiful but it keeps wilting and the leaves appear to burn and shrivel up. Anybody any clues as to why? Would it be better planted in the garden?
