New Site Coming Soon
85 Answers
Good morning,
We're pretty much done with developing the new website, and we hope to arrange things to go live early next week. Monday ideally.
The new site will work across all your devices, be easier to read, and hopefully run a little smoother.
Although, I expect the first hour on the new site to be very confusing and a little rocky, but I think we can all work together to work it out between us.
For those of you who have seen the beta site, you're going to feel very, very useful suddenly as those who haven't, and new users, learn their way around the site. I hope you don't mind helping out your fellow answerbankers!
I'll update you with our plans one the techies have come out of their team huddle this afternoon.

No, in short.
We need to update the site, if we don't then we won't be able to attract more new visitors. New members are what keeps the site vibrant and enjoyable.
Over half of AB members (returning visitors) are using a phone, or a tablet. They deserve to be catered for.
We're here to support everyone during the transition, and will listen to overwhelming opinion on changes which might need to be made. But the fundamental change needs to take place.
We invited 5,000 people to test the beta site - and the response was really positive. But we understand that by exposing it to 100 times that many users we'll probably find more things to improve for the majority.

There has obviously been a lot of work done to develop the new site and the 'team' have, in my opinion, done a really good job. Although the site looks very different and is less compact than this one, it seems to function just as effectively.
It will take some getting used to but by Easter we will have forgotten what this current site looks like.
Be positive and encouraging. Have a go.

I, kindly, had an invite but it took this thread to remind me to have a look. I've only been able to have a look as a 'visitor' because I can't for the life of me remember my password (I clicked the box 'remember my password' about 6 years ago so haven't used it since).
First thoughts are it is a bit unwieldy, comparatively, but I'm sure practice makes perfect, so after a couple of weeks it will seem like the norm.
