For as long as i have been on AB, the topic of the use of moderators come up on a regular basis. Wouldn't that suggest...possibly....just possibly, there may be a flaw in the system, a system that may need reviewing? AB is a completely different from the AB of some 10 years ago and is dwindling in posters and subscribers. I am not suggesting that this is due to the...

AOG - // andy-hughes

Are you actually the spare-ED? You seem to be. //

Since the Spare Ed has an avatar of their own, and answers with it, I think you know the answer.

I am merely trying to assist - Jordy appears grateful and it is him I was attempting to help, so thanks for your input.
Jordy - // Now we are getting somewhere,,thanks mr Hughes that explains everything, that’s all I wanted to know ,was I the only person who didn’t know this.? Thanks again mr Hughes //

You are most welcome, glad to help.
//obviously it would be warranted or it would not be removed .//
Not in all cases I believe hence my question to danny. I believe there was a personality conflict on that thread.

That simply takes us back into the difficult territory of moderation - which has seen two threads closed already today, so I suggest we don't pursue this any further.
Retro, as far as I am aware the ED keeps his eye on posts removed by moderators.
The actual Ab Editor said "Regarding the moderation discussion, this has come up before and it isn't up for debate on the website. If you have concerns about a particular incident or member, please email us or use the contact form. Thread closed." on another thread. I think that implies, if you have a problem, talk to them via email rather than speculate on the website. As speculation is exactly that.
danny - // Retro, as far as I am aware the ED keeps his eye on posts removed by moderators. //

To be clear (again!) - all post and thread deletions are automatically flagged to the Editor, identifying the Moderator who has acted, and requiring a justification for that action.

If the Editor feels the deletion is inappropriate, the thread or post can be re-instated again.
spath - // I think that implies, if you have a problem, talk to them via email rather than speculate on the website. As speculation is exactly that. //

I think that is stated, rather than implied!
Thank you danny.

Retrocop you believe and I agree ,,,I am quite prepared to listen to the like Of anneasquith and mr Hughes, now that it has been explained,I am happy to let it go.
Do you know how many hundreds of times we have all seen that response spath - including Jordy who will be very well aware of it. I can't be the only one who sees the constant churning out of the rules from non-mods as a veiled attempt to curry favour with them and their friends. Probably, on reflection, the right way to go.
The Site Rules are plain and simple. When people moan in contrary to them then there is little to do, but remind them of the simplicity of the rules. Maybe mock them a wee bit.

I have no idea what you are talking about.

Who are the 'non-mods' supposed to be 'currying favour' with - and to what end?

I really believe you are over-thinking what is a very simple set up -

The site is moderated by selected experienced AB'ers who act as they see fit, and if they appear not to be acting appropriately, they don't remain as Moderators for very long.

Let's not see complications and Machiavellian plots where none exist shall we?

Andy don't talk down to me, I'm not seeing a Machiavellian plot and I'm sure there are plenty of others who know exactly what I mean. Maybe you are too blind to see it.
You spath are going to spoil a decent informative thread .
Ah yes... I feel so informed.
Prudie, I know what you mean - and I suspect others do too.

I am not talking down to you, I genuinely have no idea what you are seeing - down to your vague reference rather than my 'blindness', but don't trouble yourself with further explanations, I have better things to do with my time that follow some notion of skullduggery than you and apparently some unidentified others are so vexed with.

If you have cogent reasonable issues to raise, why don't you mail the Ed
