Twice today my posts have been edited. Is this a new policy? If so, I think it should be re-examined. I for one am not happy for other people to change what I've written. That simply isn't right.

lb at 14:08. That was probably me. I did call another aber a 'cow' because SHE had also been rude about someone else. I reported her comment and it wasn't removed either. IMO she deserved it !
Confession is good for the soul HereIam, it's better this way than having to face barbed comments innit? ;-)
Sure is Bobbs ..
HIA I don't think it was you unless you were here as a male under another name. Also I think it was before you joined. It was a long time ago but it has stuck in my mind.
Ah it wasn't me then (at least not that time) !! I'm glad it wasn't me, because I felt totally justified when I called her that ...
Changing another person's post, clearly isn't right. Removal would be better (especially as removals no longer need to relate to Site Rules).
I'm glad it wasn't you, particularly as the comment was aimed at Naomi.
Some years ago, I used to contribute regularly to the letters page in my local rag. Letters were addressed to the *EDITOR*.
Unsurprisingly, my letters were edited...sometimes heavily so, other times little.
But the time came when my letters were so heavily edited that they bore little resemblance to what I actually wrote and on occasion actually gave the appearance of saying the exact opposite of what I originally wrote. Bits chopped off and other bits amended etc.

I eventually stopped writing.
Same thing will happen here if posts can be deleted/edited as dictated by the powers that be!
I understand deletions when needed, although I think it should be clearer, as some clearly break rules and stay, others don't and go. But editing is very different imo.
Andy must have forgot his amusing little anecdote about shutting a thread down,,,,,accidentally.
Don't know that one, spice... what happened? X
so many people amazed that an editor edits...
It was on one of Nailit's threads a few months back.
Don't think Andy understood the import of what he said.
The ABed certainly did, admitted there was a 'glitch' that they were going to try and fix it.
If you can accidentally close a thread, you obviously don't have to justify decisions with a report.
don't confuse closing a thread with deleting it.
You're the only one who's confused. Mods either have to justify their decisions or they don't.
This is amusing, is it not Naomi24?

Your post did not get changed in a way to make it appear like you were saying something you weren’t. Your post addressed a user in a way for the addressment to be assessed and in doing so it was edited in a way to leave the points you were making. Surely that’s better than the post being removed, or the thread being diverted into a snide slinging match?

Are we allowed to discuss removed parts of answers if the answer was not removed itself?
No, TD... as I know you are well aware yourself- anything removed cannot be discussed, irrelevant of whether it breaks any rules or not.

I genuinely can't remember the circumstances - but then, I don't lie awake at night wondering how and why everyone with the power to try and make the site run as smoothly as possible is trying to have me over, maybe you should dial down the paranoia and relax.
I'm sure another MOD backed up Andy. Accidentally closing a thread used to be easy to do.

TD, //Your post addressed a user in a way for the addressment to be assessed and in doing so it was edited in a way to leave the points you were making.//

No it didn’t - and no it wasn’t. I didn’t make any points. Still, if your imagination amuses you, that’s nice I like happy people. :o)
