Done, Thanks Jules,
Alfie was upset by the fireworks, until I gave him a yoghurt.

signed. With respect to the petition starter, its a pity its not better written though.
No, thanks. I love fireworks and the 5th November is a huge tradition in this country.
Did you read the petition hc? It's not banning them forever, just for sale to the general public with organised displays ?
Yes, I did read it and I love the back garden bonfire party with friends and neighbours, fireworks, baked potatoes, mugs of hot chocolate.

The only organised display near me involves driving 5 miles, paying to park in a muddy field, paying to get in, forced to walk through the massive funfair before you can even see the bonfire, then horrendous queues to get off the car park.

And guess what - there are horse stables, kennels and catteries very close to that park, as well as the usual farm animals.
Signed. I would have gone further, and banned ALL fireworks after, say, 10.30pm-11.00pm. Earlier this year our local council "organised" a Jubilee Music Concert (open-air) which finished with very loud fireworks at 11.30pm. They shook our windows over half a mile away, so goodness knows what those living next to the park heard. We get less noise from the local helicopter factoy.
yes i signed
Nah, I can deal with the cat for a couple of nights. I don't want to pander to this just because my cat gets the wobbles for a few nights. I agree entirely with HC. (And yes, I read it too).
Can we have a petition banning pet ownership

We are all affected by treading in dog muck where irresponsible owners have failed to clean up after their animals

(well at least I am)

the logic is much the same after all - If fireworks should be banned due to an irresponsible minority I don't see why pet ownership shouldnt be due to their irresponsible minority!
But organised displays would mean less noise to frighten animals as 'bonfire night' goes on for at least a fortnight!! But hey, as long as you have your fun to hell with the suffering of innocent pets, farm animals and wild animals!!! And, if you didn't want to sign the petition, there was no need to post really was there??
I would object strongly to more government interference, in this case banning private displays of fireworks. It's not an area they should be poking their nose into. Now if this were about setting a limit on the size of firework to stop the idiots in the neighbourhood setting off in their private garden that which is clearly intended to be commercial display sized fireworks, and making everyone jump with ridiculously loud explosions all evening, all week, that would be a different matter.
The post asks 'fire work ban anyone?' So those of us not up for it are perfectly able to post our opinions and why so that a reasonable discussion can ensue. Is that a concept you're aware of chaptazbru?
Bonfire night goes on for 1 evening in the year. Idiots are with us all year around.
I'm not up for it either.

Maybe it's different round here but they are not going off 24/7. An hour or less here and there.
chapatzru, the opening post is in question form, inviting views and answers.

I have answered without getting defensive or offensive.
