If nobody posted their disagreement the impression might be given that there was a consensus that this was a good idea.
You might have liked this impression to be given, hence your objection to people posting their objections.
But for evil to flourish it's only necessary for good men to do nothing - which is part of the problem with these petitions, - I sincerely believe they should have an anti-petition to each one posted for those who disagree to count against the petitioners

If we ever banned private sale of fireworks all that would happen is illegal sales would take place . These fireworks would be far more dangerous and loud , nothing works as well to increase demand as banning it.
What happens if we tell the Hindus and Chinese that they can not celebrate their festivals 'diwali and New Year' with fireworks as has been done for 100s of years before we started Nov 5th ? The human rights people would be on you like a ton of bricks !

The trouble is, fireworks aren`t just set off on one night. They start days before Nov 5th and continue for days afterwards. It hasn`t been too bad around here this year but I have known years in the past where the place sounds like a war zone. I can understand the call for a complete ban but I think there could be ways around the problem (selling no-noise fireworks, having to purchase a licence for a limited amount of purchase etc).
Not a ban entirely but definitely a ban on fireworks other than public licensed displays. And Sher, fireworks for a weekend would be fine, but not for weeks before and afterwards surely?
Fortunately I don't get to hear or see any where I live. My pets don't actually mind them. They terrified my elderly confused mother, who phoned the police to say someone was out with a gun in the neighbourbood (and it wasn't firework night).
Kids could have just as good a time at an organised display and would see far better fireworks. They are far too expensive to buy just for family use in the garden in my opinion.
Signed Jules.

Nobody had fireworks for anything except bonfire night when I was young. Certainly not for birthdays, weddings, etc., etc. etc. But there were the naughty boys who set the bangers off in the roads. But they were not so loud. And that is actually true, not just in my elderly memory. Fireworks generally were not so sophisticated. Nobody wants to stop children having fun.
don't think any petition would sort it out, it's been like a battle zone here for 4 or more hours a night since last week, even with double glazing and the tele on the bangs have been audible. I've never liked bonfires or fireworks and even watching them in antigua over the caribean sea was quite uninteresting.
new years eve is almost as bad as there are always lots going off then. i wouldn't miss fireworks if they became extinct but they're here to stay and so an annoyance i shall have to put up with.

Signed, there has been a lot of comment regards the use of fireworks, my own opinion, they should be bought by a licenced groupe & not to the general public on the grounds of safety, too many people have been Scard , burnt, even loosing their eye sight due to these things been in the wrong hands. ( More than likely be called a misery! far from it)
