Hi there. My two year old Weimaraner GSP cross boy has being diagnosed will allergy problems. The main symptom is inflamed ears which then become dirty and sticky. We are working with the vet who is excellent but the steroid tablets which helped at first have stopped being effective at a dose which is acceptable in terms of side effects for the dog. The next stage is to try a topical steroid spray which we will start on monday. We have cleaned up his diet which has helped a lot but not solved the problem. We have also tried
Canaural drops (the thick yellow ones)
Thornit powder
We currently use ear cleaning solution made from boracic and lactic acid to clean his ears (at vets suggestion) plus the steroid tabs and evening primrose oil capsules, again at vet's suggestion.
has anyone else had experience of this and can you make any suggestions please?
He has bare, not hairy ear canals and is as good as gold about the twice daily cleaning and treatment.
thanks

laters all.

on a break again....drinking full fat coke, a special treat...haven't touched the brownies yet....
Getting chilly here.

Shaney are you about? Have just seen the last two eps od PW, so good. I cried when Franny's Dad was beaten up, such a sweet dad. Do you think that of of the women we saw going into the prison at the end, will be the next pw? I hope there's another one. Any other recommendations for me to watch?
Just had a urge to eat pickled eggs (2) and a lot of chs and onion crisps so I did!!!
Question Author
I used to like pickled eggs and crisps but now the vinegar makes me cough. I sliced up the brownies and one broke and one wouldn't fit in the tin so I had to eat them. Anyway 14 bags of stuff later I am just about knocked off for the day.
Shughy has been helping me again by lying down in the middle of the rubbish and falling asleep. Rab has been patrolling the garden and protecting us from invaders. Both are now exhausted.
Don't like eggs and the thought of them being pickled is just awful!!
You have done well Woof. Mr LL needs a skip or more like a pantechnicon to get rid of the rubbish he has accumulated in the last 30 years. But he likes his rubbish. (I don't!)
Question Author
I feel the same about sausages...not the pickling bit although urgh! but I just dislike all sausages, even the posh expensive ones. The rubbish clear out is a bit of a new start moving on thing, you have to do it when you feel like it.
I feel like it now Woofy. I have felt like it for several years, but Mr LL is total hoarder. It drives me mad, but what can I do? He spends hours in his huge shed fiddling about, it keeps him happy. I can't take that away from him. Fortunately only one room in the house (the one where the computer is) is the only one the clutter is confined to indoors. I fear that whilst there is a Mr LL the shed clutter will remain. I never go near it any more because it upsets me. It is actually a large double timber garage with loft space - all full up!
Mr N is the same, we have a warehouse full of (mainly) his rubbish, old computers etc and we once hired a skip and cleared it and should do so again very soon. Mind you there is a lot of hija's rubbish there too now!
We have loads of old computers and computer parts too Neti - in this room as well. I think some of them might be as old as the original computers!!
Mr LL goes down to the skip with a bagful (it takes him about a weekend to actually manage to fill a bag) and then he comes back with other things 'that might be useful'. And as for wood, anything at all made of wood has too be kept to for firewood.

We have steptoes yard at the back of our garden. Fortunately not particularly visible, but it's a large area.
evening all...I've done a token amount of cupboard tidying today. I don't hoard things, I just don't get round to parting with much, haha. The trouble is, with most of it I can see a *possible* use so I have to keep it 'just in case'. I don't think my gardener does clutter clearing in his van but he probably knows a man who can.

I love eggs but not pickled, yuk!
Been having a think today and have decided that I don't really want to leave our little group so if you can just ignore me please Lofty and I'll extend you the same courtesy .

Yes PW was good Neti .It was very sad at the end . I hope they do another one ..there's nowt much on the moment that I can recommend but this starts soon and from the trailers it looks good .

ah oui jno... près d'Argoose
It's a deal Shaney.
We have had two stray black and white kittens round here for a good few months. We think they were dumped at the roadside. My neighbour (not Troll) has been feeding them, but decided to get the assistance of the CATS protection league to get them neutered. He is prepared to keep feeding them but doesn't want them as inside cats.

Anyway, he got to cage traps from the CPS and caught two cats. One of them put up a real fight, which surprised him because they had become quite friendly. Neighbour ended up scratched to bits. Yesterday morning I saw one of the kittens (so I thought) haring up the field as if it was being chased.

Was informed todaythat one of the two kittens appeared whilst it was supposedly at the vets being seen to! Apparently neighbour had trapped one of the original kittens and a different one who hadn't been seen before. No wonder it went flying up the field after its experience.

So neighbour now has one doctored male cat and one undoctored cat of unknown gender and somewhere out there is a wild pussy cat who has been seen to!

No wonder it went flying up the field after its experience.

Well, I thought it was funny and wanted to share.
Hi Shaney good to see you back. I thought about you last Monday (when I had no Broad Band) as UC is nearing The Final, About 2 weeks I think.
I say Prymark but I think Preemarché sounds more exotic.
I hope all that your day has been a good one. I went then to see my little 1 year old baby friend. He's walking well now and teething so he was a bit niggly but his Dad is so good at organising him.

Off for my tea now - later 'gater(s)
Missed a bit. I went shopping to Sainsburys and then went to see the baby!! I must have deleted it somewhere along the line.

I just had posh tea. Tagliatelli with pesto on topped with cherry tomatoes stewed in olive oil with prawns then a slice of brownie. Actually I threw it together out of the freezer...tasted good though.
Golly isn't one early to be walking?
Tomorrow is cardboard packing flattening day. Shughy seems okay so we will go walkies early.
