It must have been an awesome site!, your very lucky, I've only ever see two on different occasions.
They remind me very much of the Red cardinals that I've seen in N America

I was stood outside on the drive & there were about 20 feeding on berries in a cotoneaster shrub in my front garden not 6' away. They're creatures of habit, so I'll be on the lookout in the morning.....I'll keep you posted gness:-)

According to yesterday's Independent, a large flock of waxwings is called an 'irruption'.

We had about 60 Fieldfare over the garden about two weeks ago...It looked like a Starling murmuration, amazing.

20- 30 Longtits in the Rowan tree about 3-4 weeks ago. Alas no Waxwings yet
