Fireworks Again!
45 Answers
My German Shepherd keeps wanting to go outside to see what all the noise is about. I let her out and she lies on the patio watching them and occasionally barks at the really loud ones. I am so lucky that neither she, nor Tilly are trying to climb the walls.
Those of you with animals who are frightened must be having a terrible time as the firework season seems to be much longer this year.
Will it never end?

When I had my last dog we used to go down to the park and the kids would be throwing the fireworks around. Robbie was a bit of a psycho so was always on the lead - it must be truly terrifying for animals. Some animals are trembling wrecks.
Having said that I think that 5/11 is a magical night for kids - but it should be restricted to that night only and only as an organised event.
What is your GSDs name?

I think that some humans make the situation worse by making the dog even more anxious.
My dog had been a rescue dog and was terrified of lorries passing him. I would cuddle him and try and calm him down, not knowing that I was reinforcing the danger or lorries. He was 5 when I got him so not sure at all what his history was.

Not a time I would have picked either. My two were 18 months when I got them and were called Greebo and Merlin. I wanted a little tom cat called Frankie (Greebo isn't a nice name) so I decided to change his name (chap in my avatar) but Merlin is still Merlin but she is called Princess Merlin (also known as Princess Stupid or Princess Slasher).
I like GSDs - both of dogs have been half GSD. Thinking about it now, they were both cat chasers. I can honestly say that they would find Merlin a challenge, she has a feisty nature.
