My beautiful boy Bruno was attacked in the park this morning by a much bigger dog. It came from nowhere around a bend and just launched itself at my boy grabbing hold of his neck. Bruno is a big dog too but as gentle as a lamb but he tried to fight this dog off. There was blood everywhere and he was screaming at one terrible point our eyes locked and his were pleading. I tried and tried to kick the brute off him and I was yelling and yelling for help. There was nobody a sould around and the dog seemed to be alone. Then as suuddenly as it appeared it ran off and disappeared and my boy was lying mortally wounded on the ground and crying pitifully. I was still screaming and screaming for help and two men on the other side of the path heard me and came running over. They were wonderful,they picked him up between them ever so gently and we went to the flat of one of them and got his car. Bruno is now at the emergency vet's in a very, very bad way. The vet doesn't hold out too much hope as the injuries are horrendous. He is drugged up to the eyeballs so he won't be feeling pain. She has sent me home so I can clean myself up, I'm covered in b ood and told me to go back when I feel up to it and she will ease him gently on his way. I can't believe it, I can't believe it. He was well and happy this morning and now he's at death's door becasue of a vicious dog that seemed to be running around on its own. Where's the owner ????? What can I do, I can't report it to the police, they are not interested in dog on dog attacks - pity I didn't get bitten, they would have acted then. I live alone that dog was my life, my woofer I called him and now he's leaving me and he won't want too, he won't want too Oh God, Oh God. Help me Please help me. I'll never get over this, I'll see it in my minds eye for the rest of my days and I'll hear his screams. And his eyes oh God his eyes. My beautiful, friendly boy. My boy. I'm in so much pain.

This is such a sad post, I send my love and best wishes to you , what a dreadful thing to have happened. I hope the police catch up with the owner of the other dog.

Yes - thank you Jayne for updating us. I can only imagine ILM's heart is totally broken for she adored that dog. He was her life.

As somebody earlier said - I do think Margie needs to get help from her GP - even temporarily to get over this terrible trauma. She won't be able to go it alone.

I woke up this morning thinking about Margie and Bruno and was in tears again for her heartbreak and unbearable pain. Devastated is such an over-used word but my god if what has happened to our Margie and her beloved dog isn't devastating, nothing is. My heart goes out to you Margie. XXX

Thanks Mamya. I had to give up reading through the thread as I was so upset. I apologise to Margie. I just can't bear to think what she is going through.

Tilly, today's been the same. The only relief is when I was talking to my brother whose wife died yesterday. Even then I told him about it!

I have read this so many times and started to write a response but nothing I say would ever be enough nor change the deep pain, horror and distress that you must be feeling, ILM.

I read this to my husband yesterday and I faltered at every word , can't get it out of my head , poor ILM, this is so awful x

Every time I read this or think about it, I think of how I would feel. It's the only way I can come close to what ilm must be feeling. And I keep coming back to see if she is ok. I want to say so much...but nothing is right.

Late to this thread, but that is very traumatic, and I hope you can get over your grief.
I was called by a friend many years ago and his dog had just been attacked. I went round and the dog died in front of us before we could do anything and we both cried our eyes out. So I know how you feel.

Good morning everybody. This is to update the kind people who voiced their concern for Bruno and my sister. The vicious dog who attacked our Bruno has been destroyed. As the policewoman told us the dog was known to them and they visited the owner who said he was going to have it destroyed anyway as it had become a liability! Because he agreed to do this, there will be no more action taken against him. Sue is still in a bad way obviously and is now staying with us for the forseeable as there is no way I can leave her at home alone right now. Her friend and neighbours have been excellent and rallied round, bringing gifts, cards and offers to take her out when it is possible to go out again. The two lovely men who helped her when Bruno was fatally wounded have been round to see her with a massive bunch of flowers and one of them couldn't stop crying. She is very grateful for the comments and understanding she has received and asks me to particularly thank Ladycg, jennyjoan, naomi and Ladybirder for the things you said, but she remains grateful to all of you.
