Yesterday my neighbour gave me loads of tomatoes from her allotment. Nice big beef ones.

This morning grilled some up for breakfast with sausage, egg & mushrooms. The tomatoes, oh my god they were so sweet and delicious. I cannot stop raving about them.

It has definitely put me of buying from my local market stall!!!

Home grown are usually best. We have a friend who gives us cucumbers they taste wonderful and nothing like you buy.  They are even better that the organic in the shops.

I tend to find bigger tomatoes tend to be less sweet. Do you know what variety they grew ?

(All my tomatoes are still green and on the tomato plants.)

OG green tomatoes are perfect for chutney.

The answer lies in the soil.

You've been listening to Arthur Fallowfield.

We have got so many tomatoes, I am going to be making tomato wine.  The little golden orange ones are lovely though.  I eat way too many of them when I am out picking stuff.

Leave the skins in and make a red then 😉

I don't know what variety they were. They were wonky & big. I will try & find out. And I've got a cucumber too which I'm gonna make a salad with the rest of the tomatoes and salmon fillets.

Baz, it is a list of my attributes:

I'm sure you are all of those and more 😁

I used to slice green tomato's dip them in flour and fry in oil. Yummy

I hate tomatoe s here. Utterly tasteless.

But in Turkey, where we often go, they are delicious, even supermarket ones.
All around the area are lots of polytunnels, so growing methods cannot be that different. though variety and temerature would be. I guess.
