name for black labrador

I'm getting a black labrador but can't think of a name for him. Any ideas ??

Blue.

(Seriously! my mum used to live on a farm with a labrador that was so black it had a blue type of sheen to it in the light. Hence the name).

For me, a black lab will forever be Simon. We had our Simon when I was about 5 or 6 and he grew up with all four of us children, He was a proper family dog - I'm so envious of you, Jillius! We can't decide whether or not to get a dog now for our two young boys, and talk about it often!!

I always thought Simon was a normal name for a dog, then as I grew up I thought it wasn't, and then later still, I worked with a girl who had had a Simon too, so now I'm not sure again! Ours answered to Simon, Sammy, Sam and Fat Dog (in his later years!!)

My brother has a black cat called Snowy and a white one called Sooty lol. My beloved late lab was called Blackie ! I got him from the rspca and tried calling him Jet but he ignored me, then one day I called him Blackie and he really responded ! My brothers sheepdog is called Jack, but my maiden name was Elliott so that was a good suggestion !!

Oh nutgoneflake ! Get another !! They are just the best dogs ever. So loyal. We used to laugh at Blackie cos we would balance a Bonio on his nose and he would drool and dribble but he wouldn't eat it till we said "Get it ", then he would flick it in the air and wolf it down without it touching the sides !! I'll forever miss him.
