Bad news I'm afraid, Charlie has a large cancerous mass in his stomach pressing on his insides which is why he can't eat, but he's had a injection and if he gets better (seemingly) in a couple of days then he can live quite happily for a while longer, but if he doesn't improve, he has to be put to sleep. I'm crying buckets!!!

Oh Neti how awful for you . Been there myself as you know with old Shaney . It's the kindest thing to let them go when the time comes ,heartbreaking as it is . You've got me grizzling now. I often contribute to these posts in A&N you know when someone has lost a pet and I end up weeping buckets .I should avoid them really ! ....Oh dear ....Chin up old girl. xxxx

Evening, all. Phew, somebody has finally taken a couple of potted lucky bamboos off my hands - they spread like weed and they don't want to sit in the window (too sunny) so I've had pots all over the floor...

I'm so sorry you've had such sad news about Charlie dude, Neti. I'm the opposite of Shaney but for the same reasons - I never contribute to pet loss threads, it tears me apart every time. I waited too long (in retrospect) with my old tiger, should have let her go sooner and I don't know if I'll ever be able to forgive myself for that although I know that I must. Do you like Charlie's vet? It's so important. My best advice to you would be to find out in advance what weeks your favourite vet is on duty and whether or not they accept being called up at home. No matter what kind of issues you will be struggling with, having this information will make it easier for you to decide things. <3

That piccy must have been particularly fabulous Robinia... Did you post it on TCL's thread as well 'cos that one seems to have also been removed. The last post I saw on it was Dot wishing him a happy birthday?

Better get back to my thankyou cards. I've written them all now but I was on a roll with the wordings so I postponed writing the addresses...

kit we don't have a choice of vets here, it's a very small village, one has to trust them, they both attended to Charlie.

mmmm, hoodee elbow removed the pic of me in my best santa outfit! tut! Not my fault that I'm so luscious. I find it hard to believe that tinypic removed it, there are far worse pics on there ....that just leaves ?? on this site who might have reported it. Jealousy, that's what it must be.

I don't do the sad pet threads either...Charliedog is 12 on Sunday! He drives me potty somedays & I tell him he's gonna be converted into a mini-rug, but I can't imagine being without him.

These animals tug at your heartstrings ..very true what that man Kipling said ..Brothers and sisters I bid you beware of giving your heart to a dog to tear ..or in others cases a cat or any pet for that matter :(

Any hoo .. KIt I watched Wallander .Thought it was brilliant . It stuck more or less to the book .It had 50/50 reviews on the BBC messageboards though.Thing is you have to have read the books to appreciate it . He's a complex character and unless you read about him you can't get the man just by a TV programme .So pooh to those who moaned about it !

I may have to give Mankell another chance then Shaney, I started reading one of his books but I thought he was a bad stylist. But so many people whose opinion I respect keep telling me that the stories are great. In any case he seems like a good guy (Mankell) and Branagh is usually amusing. Did you see my childhood town, Ystad? As it was shot there.

Jude I love the story you told about when you were a flowergirl at Woolworth's and went up on the roof to fetch them, it's like a haiku image, just beautiful.

morning...still in bed, tut, or are you all snowed in? We had a blizzard between 7.30 & 8 this morning & a good covering within minutes. It's sunny now & so slippery. I made another tiny sn�gubbe with currants for eyes (no batteries for camera tho')....and the birds pecked them out & ate them! haha...

Morning, we also had a snow storm (OK it was actually hail stones, but it made the world white for a while and slippery) I got absolutely drenched cos it was sunny when I left home.

Charlie now very bad, can hardly walk so am waiting for Mr N to come and we'll take him to the vets. I'm off to dig a little grave for him now if I can find a spade or shovel.

Lovely pic of you ribenia..quickly saves to faves.. no snow ere,but it was blowing a cold crafty wind this morning,went right up me ********.The blue led lights were hanging off the pub this morning has i passed and were laying on the wet pavement all lit up,looked very arty it did.ive got thursday off this week,there turning on the xmas lights in ilfracombe tommorrow and they close the road off and all the shops offer you mince pies and you can buy hot chestnuts in the street.So im gonna have a few beers and crawl round the pubs.And tomorrow i gets me new crown in...yippee..then i will look fabulous as well..hehe..!(:O)

Oh Neti I'm so, so sorry. I know you've torn your heart out. I've lit a candle for Charlie and placed it in my Himalayan salt lamp and it's glowing so serenely, I wish you could see it. Such a handsome boy, so cool and relaxed on that photo. You've done right by him. <3
