Got round to climbing a ladder yesterday to clean out my birdbox. Bit sad to find four unhatched eggs. No idea what has happened, but maybe the neighbourhood cats have something to do with it. Ah well, there's always next year.

That's a shame, maggie. I emptied mine on Sunday and all mine had gone. The nest was huge. It nearly filled the whole box. Most of it was made from my German Shepherd's hair.
Do you clean your box with anything, maggie?
I don't know what to use.

I just removed the nest and eggs and used the garden hose. Always just use water.
We had 2 clutches of Wrens in one of our boxes. We saw both lots fledge
How lovely, mazie.
I wouldn't worry about 4 unhatched eggs. They usually lay a clutch of about 12. 8 may have hatched and fledged OK just leaving the few unhatched.
