ABE suggestion - please can people be encouraged to have the politeness to either thank those of us who help them, or to recognise that we tried and tell us we were wrong.  The site is quickly turning into a chat room, and I'm all for that.  But if you want to keep it as an answer bank, then people need to have a reason to give answers.  Ignoring attempts at help is rude and surely against the spirit of the site.

Or am I just 22 going on 82 and being a miserable old goat?

"cand?" how about "can't".....
oh yes, the original question... actually acw, I don't really agree. You can't demand politeness, and even politely requesting politeness sort of defeats the object of the exercise. Politeness comes from within; polite people say thanks, others just don't bother. I think you just have to live with it, be grateful for the occasional star. Now that I've written this I think I've said it before in answer to a post by mrs.pudding recently that made a similar suggestion; not sure where it is though. Anyway you're not a miserable old goat, and quite why MargeB has gone pop is beyond me.

Hi Robinia - I'm so glad I'm not involved in all this!

Now, would anyone like a portion of my delicious home made Rhurbarb Crumble - it's still warm?

P.S. Life's too short, so come on - make it up you lot!

Hi Robinia - i'm so glad all this hasn't got anything to do with me!

Now would anyone like a portion of my rhurbarb crumble - it's still warm?

What the heck is going on with this site?

I submitted the first answer - it didn't appear! I type out another, trying to remember what I'd typed - pressed submit, then they both appear!

Anyway, d'ya want some or not?

You're too late we've eaten it!

Sorry to everyone who had the misfortune to come onto this thread thinking it was about thanking people for their efforts, only to see it descend into another bitch fight.  I'm sorry for my part in that.  I really really promise to try to hold my tongue in future and not get so wound up.  And also to try to remember that as tone of voice and body language are not implied, I need to have more faith in other people.  And count to 10 more often.

For what it's worth I clicked the button to say there had been enough answers on this thread - in an attempt to stop it all.  But to no avail.  So I just walked away for a bit.  But felt I should apologise to the unfortunates who stumbled across it all!Sorry!

acw    We are all tending to get wound up by one person in particular acw.  Hopefully it will be stopped at some time.
Mmmm tasty Rhubarb!

Like most people on this thread, I'm not too bothered about the mud slinging. But what we MUST stamp out is mention, as there has been since the weekend, of:

-Barbequed Lamb

-Rhubarb and custard.

And all that kind of thing. It is simply NOT FAIR. My fridge contains 2 pints of milk, some hot cross buns, and some Dolce Latte Cheese. I now cannot stop thinking about barbequed lamb. I mean, every 3 minutes. Medium rare, with thyme. It needs to stop.

Sorry, I meant 'rosemary'. Apologies if this oversight caused offence.

Mmmm BBQ'd Lamb Marge!

I like my Rhubarb Crumble with tip top or ice cream!

Are we placing orders?  Roast beef etc & apple pie & ice cream please.

Oh Tip Top smudge - must add to shopping list!

bet the outside was crispy but the inside was tender

:-(((((((((((((

wow the stuff you miss when you go away for a few days! i got your back acw. i can see what you mean about what marge said. i would be offended too! anyway this place is too addictive to leave!
Have capitulated and ended up going to Sainsburys to get my own. Weather is now rubbish so oven it is ;-)
