It does appear that a number of ABers get upset by some of the adverts which appear on this site.

Until today, I have refrained from blocking-out adverts, which are important to AB; in the knowledge that a superb site would not survive without them.

However,I am concerned about the flashing ones which I feel could be responsible for affecting my eyesight.

Consequently, I am now resorting to 'Adblock' and suggest that the Ed examines the whole question of adverts and the effect they have on individuals.

I dont remember PM on here :(
I remember Pm, it was great and then suddenly it wasn't there:(
lol...glad it wasn't just my mind playing tricks.... I agree with Rowan, sometimes it would be nice to be able to help on a more personal level...buuuuuut I think it did get more than a little abused at times.
Shame all the kiddies can't always play nicely eh?

I use an ad blocker. I would be prepared to donate (as wiki is run), but wouldn't subscribe. If you go down that route nobody would join.
And them somebody would be posting on here demanding the ed ban another ABer because of abuse they'd received via PM.
It was a nightmare.
hc, why was it a nightmare? We only spoke to people we wanted to speak to. We were free to pick and choose. I thought it was excellent.
Ratter, how on earth did you not know about it? You've been here long enough.
naomi, but posters were bleating to the ed on AB about the contents of PMs asking him to sort it out, which caused spats on AB. It was all very playground bullying.
hc, I don't remember that at all. I recall that we invited the people we wanted to talk to - and refused invitations from those we didn't want to talk to.

My thanks to all who have contributed to this thread.

Matters have been conducted in a friendly manner and I feel sure that the Ed has made a few notes, for his future consideration. (Perhaps stored in a new 'Travel Laptop'.!! ☺☺☺ )

I seem to recall that Ratter was absent from AB for a good few months, so it's possible he missed it entirely.

Hi B00....I am assuming you are referring to PM's. At the moment I am giving some thought as to whether there is real merit in PM's. I can see that it is a way of contacting someone and still remain anonymous; if correctly 'set-up'. However, I would wish the Ed and Moderators to be in a position to censor all communications and not purely have it computer controlled.

Ron.
You can't expect the ed to take responsibility for private messages too.
"I would wish the Ed and Moderators to be in a position to censor all communications and not purely have it computer controlled"

...yeah...just like the government!
Boo, you are probably right, I was away for a while, it was probably during that period.
Yeah sorry Ron, i did mean the PM's.

I liked the PM's and no, I wouldn't like to moderate those as well, thanks for volunteering us though, lol.
