I am not amused
Ma previous question was not an invitation to have me suspended. The gypes who have done it probably think it's dead funny but the truth is it's pathetic. To think there are folk who have taken the time to register only to do this sort of thing is sad. If it were done by wee ones I could maybe understand but I doubt that very much

I am glad I have nothing better to do than see if my posts are accepted. Over the w/end I kept having the pb where the ABmachine went mad posting posts when they were not finished and every repetition included one word more (anyone understand?) and so that made for a lot of posts for which I wasn't responsible. I mailed the Ed but nothing has been forthcoming.
And I don't think acw aka Anna aka acw was rude and certainly not to RacingLover she was answering his question wsaying how she felt. Perhaps there should be a sign at the start of the site saying ONLY POLITICAL CORRECT Q's and A's allowed. (See jno your info re apostrophes is slowly sinking in!!!!!)
Malicious reporting is just so petty. However I don't think that we should only allow the questionner to report answers. Some people post questions and then check back a day or two later - they won't see any offensive answers until then.
It doesn't happen that often but there are really offensive answers posted from time to time. Those which attack people / groups in abusive terms. Leaving these on the site until the questionner calls back is not helpful. Ideally they should be reported and removed as soon as they are spotted. The poroblem being that this system only works well if people only report as offensive posts which truly are objectionable.
To be fair to the AB Ed s/he does seem to return posts that were maliciously reported though the delay can I'm sure be irritating in the extreme.
This doesn't help with answers which might be seen more subjectively as rude - too sarcastic etc. Some people seem to take offence very very easily. Also tone doesn't always come over well when typing. I think if at all possible give the benefit of the doubt. If you have a q you want an answer to then surely the person with the best information should be encouraged to reply....
Personally I have no problem at all with any of those who have their posts removed regularly and then returned. I would be interested to know whether or not the AB Ed can see if the same user keeps reporting posts which then need reinstating. If so I would hope that repeated malicious reporting would be treated as breaking Site Rules and dealt with accordingly...
Rushnowt's first posting on this site was very informative and I answered that I found it quite believable. I then received a lot of cr** from a certain contributor and the whole thread was quickly removed.
I would love to believe that Rushnowt is an honest contributor trying to help, but am also worried that Rushnowt is another alias for the troublemaker.
This is why I am not posting much at present. The whole thing has got out of control.
I've no idea how, technically speaking, the reporting business works. But perhaps there is some scope for modifications. How about:
Obscene, offensive (eg racist) or abusive posts could be reported by anyone (these are the only type I personally have ever reported, and not on threads that I started). This is just to keep the site clean; a very small minority of stuff is genuinely obnoxious.
Chattiness to be reported only by the person who posted the original question, who may well be peeved at getting a stream of emails telling him he has answers, only to find his thread has been hijacked by gossip. (AB Ed himself would also be able to delete this sort of thing on his own initiative, as I assume he does now.)
Anyone who overdoes the reporting to be suspended pending review by AB Ed, as happens now to anyone who overdoes posting. This ought to allow malicious reporters to be identified and suspended, if not dropped into the North Sea in chains.
That leaves open the question of what to do about posts that are excitable or personal but fall short of being abusive. I'm inclined to think than on any website like this users should acquire a moderately thick skin; but perhaps this one, intended for information-heavy content rather than chat, should impose stricter standards than others?
The submit/space link is true! It happens to me too. Just to let you know Artful, that the thread where I was supposedly rude to racinglover - was about emails from AB, not about "what women want". Either way - someone has it in for me. I'm still not sure if you guys can see acw posts, so I'm staying as annacwood for today. But just to clarify again - acw and I are the same person.
I hope ABE can see a pattern of the same users reporting the same other users repeatedly, and can thus identify petty reporting fights and put a stop to them.
Again - for the record - I really don't mean to be rude. I concede that too often my first form of defense is attack. But I have certainly never intended to upset racinglover. And I have contributed many non-chatty answers that have been appreciated by other users. As I said though - everyone please feel free to email ABE and ask for me to be barred from your threads - if you don't want my help. :-(
I leave the whole thing in your hands. I will stand by your request not to offer any help in your threads. If you wish to help out in any of mine, your suggestions will be most welcome. :-) Honestly, I like to hear different people's views and their answers to fact finding question.
I would also be grateful if any complaints could be made clearly and "to my face" in the future, and early on. This could help to avoid confusion. If you wish to continue to have me barred from your threads - please do contact the editor. It's a very serious thing and I think ABE should be involved if that is still your wish. Whatever your decision re my contributions to the site, I will respect that. I will not force my way into your threads.
