New users...

Ed, do you think it might be a good idea to remind users to treat all new comers with respect?

Newbies are treated with suspicion and if it wasn't for the fact that Prendy was in the same room as me he would have been banned/suspended or treated like a troll.

He jumped in feet first because of me...and because of what I told him about the site. He should be left alone to find out the site etiquette for himself before other users call him 'creepy' or presume he's a troll....

This site needs new users, quite badly in my opinion, he's 19...he's a good boy. Let new users find their feet fgs...

I remember being a newbie and there was one particular aber who gave me a hard
time. I got so upset at one point I thought about leaving but I rose above it. You do
have to be rather thick-skinned on here at times. I find the majority of people on here
very helpful and friendly. There are one are two people who think they own the place,
but I've learnt to ignore them as they do me. I get a lot of enjoyment out of the
crossword and puzzle sections and occasioally chatterbank and the various other
sections. Long may it live!

You're so right....the site does need new users too as it just adds to the mix and makes it more varied on topics in different sections, not just in CB also.

Yeah Pinki....found out I knew Jack when another poster mentioned Northampton and where he used to live. It was very close to the pub so I mentioned it. Jack used to drink there when my Nan and Grandad had it (I lived with them at the time) and also when my Uncle had it...and I worked there.

oooo dont you just hate when someone says 'theres a few who think they own the place' and dont name names :)
I thought prendy was a breath of fresh air in this place (I did see the thread where umm introduced him though) -its full of moaning minnies half the time !
Jeez -real life is tough enough at times without having to come on AB for it.
Just today 'I feel im invisible and am always ignored'...tough..the OP cant reply to everyone on a thread -ive tried and killed my own thread dead trying to make sure i havent acknowledged everyone so no-one thinks theyre being ignored.

The actual users on this site need a shake up not the site ...
