I see England, I see France

Last week I saw an old episode of Moonlighting. the name of the episode was I see England, I see France, I see Maddie's netherworld. It immediately struck me as probably being a paraphrase, so I searched for that phrase barring the netherworld-part, and got tons of hits. I gather it's a 'teasing rhyme' (if that be the term) and that the last part of it would normally be I see (name)'s underpants. But even that sounds like a paraphrase to me, as if the origin was oh I don't know - a Churchill speech or something... "I see England, I see France, united in ..." etcetera. (Just fantasizing.)

Does anyone know anything about the origin - or if the rhyme is the origin.

Thanks in advance and for now, more personal thanks sometime next week.

Is she nice (JK?)...you see I always feel such unease when I see her I can never hang around long enough to hear what she has to say. Don't know what it is, just one of those feelings....

nina...nina?...nope...I've been called a ninny a time or two...

it's very noisy out tonight
think I need to pump up the volume

is it just me getting old or is Kylie's new song bl00dy awful?

Silver machine, Robininny (you'll live to regret that one) - is Wayne on it, then? / Kylie's new, is that In my arms? It's not great... but I think she's kinda entertaining... but if you add a "to" (to the title)... beautiful
this is it, Kit, but it doesn't really make any noise. You can switch on a beep if you're feeling lonely.

haha, I think the least said about 'waynes' running around naked, the better...

no, Kylie's song's called 'wow' - which gets it off to a bad start for me...in Nottingham if you're 'wowin' you're wailing/crying :o) I like her as a rule but this song I have to switch off I'm afraid. It's on youtube so you can play it as soon as I've pulled the plug which is any moment n.....

Whoa. I just wanna warn the rest of you biddies - close your curtains, jno can see you. Have a look at this review, it's in Swedish but what I want you to see are the two zooming-in examples, each in three steps. It's the area marked with a red frame that the reviewer will be zooming, first the church clock and then the people by the water. That's very impressive. He says the in-built stabilizer is also very good, so you'll be able to have your drinks or be sea sick or whatever and still use the camera, jno - oh the pictures we have to look forward to. Can't wait to see you leave ;-)

Oh no Robininny pulled the plug on herself... I think I'll do the same so nitie nite. I say wow a lot Robinia, but I think you did your catapult in with those kitchen zinks anyway so I'll risk it, he he.
ha, yes, a stabiliser, just what I need. Actually, what that's about is when you're zooming in on something a mile away, the slightest wobble of the camera, which wouldn't even be noticed in a close-up shot, gets humungously magnified - but the stabiliser rounds up the pixels and makes it look sharper. Very useful with a lens that long. The camera's also very lightweight - amybe half what an old-fashioned film camera with the same zoom would have weighed. Actually, make that a tenth when you see those great long lenses like tank barrels you see on photographers at sports events. Amazing what digital will do. The photos I've showed around before, eg

http://i18.tinypic.com/5xt5dl2.jpg

were taken with a 12x zoom lens, which is also pretty zoomy but not as much as the new one, and as you see the results are pretty good. (Though that particular pic wasn't zoomed in on nearly that much.) However, a couple of minor irritations: skies can get bleached too white, and shadows (eg the top of the column) can look blue rather than black. But Photoshop can sort these out.
(((*_*))) Afternoon biddyninnys.
blimey that camera looks a bit complicated,im still sussing out me brownie,i cant seem to turn on the colour ?(:O)
no snow ere at the mo ....
hope you feel better soon shaney.
yo

Morning all - jno mydaughter had a lesser Lumix and it broke after only a couple of months, and could we find the guarantee - no , so it's still waiting to be mended when I can afford it. Give me a good old cheap Vivitar anyday.

Kit We have those playgrounds for older folk over here in Ibiza Town, the apparatus are painted blue and yellow, although as yet I've never been on one.
a'noon...oooh, don't know where that wind's coming from but I know where it's going to...I could do with some stabilisers...
ok, who's got an effigy of me? (effogey?) feels like someone's sticking a blunt needle in me derriere...might be time to get a new bed....how about this? I'm trying to imagine the consequences if you flopped down on that a bit heavily last thing at night.... you could be looking at the stars - from the roof, hahaha

lovely pic jno...
where are my binoculars?

<thought I'd get that one in before he weeble-ises me & sticks me on it>

right, I'm off down the biddypark to whizz down the slide on a bread paper...

Ken didn't tell me he was putting grass round Nelsons Column .
That must be new .It didn't have grass last time I was there Mind you that was a couple or three years ago. By the time I ever get to London again they will probably have moved St Pauls to the Docklands !
It 's freezing here .

Morning, possums. I'm in shock 'cos they won't be selling carrot cake at the deli anymore. Carrot cake is my poison so where do I go from here. They do push an ultra mean sea-buckthorn juice made by the angels themselves but you need something to chew on as well don't you. Will you sign my petition. It's important.

Bye for now, gotta hit the shower so I can hit the streets looking for a carrot cake dealer.
Ooh nooo.....not a carrot cake crisis.
It's bad enough when they close down handbag shops .
I am still scouring the world for somewhere warm and dry to live .
The desert looks nice and warm but there is a distinct lack of lippy and nail varnish retail outlets and all that sand would get in my chs sandwich.
ooh, I'm having a sympathy panic attack too ...it's nearly as bad as cstrds being declared a health hazard...

don't worry Kit some highly influential names are behind your campaign....impressive eh?

Clever old <n>ninia<, but who is snowho??
Sympathies to all with aches, pains and worse. Am keeping my head down until weather improves, or, I may hibernate until spring. Is that what marmosets would do?
oh lordy we're having a snow/hail storm...

it says jnowho (as in ya know who...tut, don't you hate having to explain your jokes?)

hello marm... <curtseys>...
at least you have fur...all that robinias do is stand naked & twiggy in all bloomin weathers....

no carrot cake, that is a tragedy. Could they make it out of, er, swedes instead>

Shaney, the grass was a one-off, that's why I rushed into Lunnun to immortalise it. It vanished after a couple of days. But it was actually rather nice and people were picnicking and enjoying themselves. The statue of, er, you know who, wasn't there at the time, of course, that was later sculpted by Robinia Epstein.
marvellous stuff that playdoh...
Aha ..I see Thank you Jno ..I have just searched it out on Goggle .Does look rather nice but not practical in the long term I suppose
Perhaps Ken will roll it out for me on my next visit !
I've just realised that's Vinny atop Nelsons Column .
Shows how groggy I feel ! I had to peer at it sideways.
Oh lawd ...that has made me snort even more !
"England expects that every man will do his duty."
"Kiss me Vinny "!

With that Round Robinia I don't see how the deli can very well refuse me - I only hope they don't notice it's all written in the same sneaky hand?

I asked a question about IKEA in Society & Culture / People & Places and I've never had such response in all my history with the AnswerBank...

Hi marm, long time no see. Stick with us, kid, we'll go places. Like... the biddy playground in Blackley?
