Now that JK Rowling has officially named her next book who do you think is the half-blood prince?? I initally thought it could possibly be something to do with Neville Longbottom, but have since remembered that both his parents were wizards therefore he is full blood. Anyone any suggestions as to who it could possibly be??

I meant that without Voldemort there would be no big, bad enemy for Harry to have to defeat. And so no reason for any books after number 7. In other words they will probably live happily ever after, or Harry may become the greatest Auror ever and he could easily defeat all the puny, weak evil doers after he has triumphed over Voldemort and all of his followers. So a book based on this would be pretty boring compared to these first seven :)

Actually every house is kinda choosey, except hufflepuff, remeber the sorting hats song in book 5?

Raveclaw- smart people
Gryffindor- courage and true at heart
Slytherin- only Pure-blood
Hufflepuff-takes the rest

I did not mean choosy for their houses, but choosy as in picking their wives and husbands. Many of the people in Slytherin seem to be pure blood or very close to it, while there seem to be less pure bloods in each of the other 3 houses. Though if one added up the total number of purebloods, I would imagine that the number in all 3 good houses total would equal or slightly beat the number in the Slytherin house. So in all I just meaning that Slytherins seem more concerned in remaining pure blood than any of the other houses, and so they are more choosy when picking who they will date/marry/etc.
I found where the phrase is that I talked about in my number 7 theory. Read the first sentence of chapter 16 in book 1. It says: "In years to come, Harry would never quite remember how he had managed to get through his exams when he half expected Voldemort to come bursting through the door at any moment." This is from the american paperback version, and it is on page 326 of that book.
8) Okay, now onto the big matters at hand. Dumbledore: I think his story will finally be told either in book 6 or 7. I think he will die in either book 6 near the end or in book 7 near the beginning. I think Harry should go look in Dumbledore's pensieve to see the exact prophecy told by Trelawny to Dumbledore, that he did not get to hear in book 5. This could be a way for Harry to learn about many more things, possibly something to do with Sirius and the mirror. Also, why didn't Dumbledore tell Harry the end of the prophecy when he was finally answering all questions? Forgive me if he did and I have just forgotten it. 9)Hermione's fate and possible lovelife. I hope she will live long enough to love, but sadly she or Ron or Harry or all 3 of them may die during books 6 or 7. If she lives, then her possible mates range from Ron, Victor Krum, Harry Potter, Neville, and just for fun let's say Draco Malfoy--I just noticed how fixated he is on her when he talks to his father or his friends, uhm...there may be a crush there. I say probably not Krum, lives to far away, will probably die anyway. Neville just does not seem her type. She would have to be put under a spell to choose Draco. So this leaves Harry and Ron; personally I think it will be whoever lives at the end of book 7. If both do, then it would have to be Ron, because J.K. just says the clues are there already, and she also said they put thme into the movies rather early; and in both it is Ron who is attracted to Hermione and who she also likes. So Harry will either die, take Rons place if Ron dies, or Harry will just have to find someone like Ginny--uhm, now that is a good idea--but I think Ginny just might end up with Neville.
I think it is hagrid because he is a half blood giant also
According to me there are many characters to suit 'the half blood prince'title. It could be either a new character(as Pickle says) or it could be one of the following: 1.)Dean Thomas 2.)Prof. Snape(he might belong to Slytherin but we do not have any details of his family) 3.)Remus Lupin 4.)Peter Pettigrew 5.)Viktor Krum could be the half blood prince 6.)Mark Evans of all my suggestions i personally believe that DEAN THOMAS is THBP.

What about Dean Thomas??

Or maybe it will be a new enemy.  That could work!  Definitely not Dumbledore.  Or maybe none of us have any idea about what Half Blood Prince means.

Obviously nobody reads JK ROWLINGS' site, she states that it is NOT Harry, Voldemort, OR Mark Evans.  I am kind of leaning towards the Dumbledore/Hagrid thoery, I know it could be a new character as well, but it seems kind of late in the series to keep adding all these new characters, unless of coarse it is a new DADA teacher because Hogwarts will be needing one of those since the toad is gone ^_^
It can't be malfoy, in the 5th book Narcissa is on the Black family tree, clearly showing that she is pure-blood, and Lucius is pure as well, making Malfoy Pure.
And it might not be Voldemort, but it COULD be Tom Riddle in a complex way, JK kind of hints around that as rai said earlier...Oh and Voldemort has no Heir, he is "the last Heir to Slytherin"...JK said she seriously didn't mean to make Mark Evans a character in which would become big, so I doubt he has anything to do with anything...
It cant be Tom Riddle because in F.A.Q. somone asked if it is him and she said no because he is Voldemort.
yes i agree. there is going to be a new character called McLagan that i know for sure is true so maybe it has something to do with him. but lets not leave out the possibility of it being an old character.
umm it could be harry well I have a question first in the 5th one someone said harry was a half blood? but both his parents went to hogworts? ummmm maybe it could be seamus or someone really out of the picture but please answer my question!
The way you can tell if someonen is really halfblood is if both of his or her grandparent are half blood, so on lily's side her parents were muggles therefore harry is a halfblood
i wonder if in some weird way this could be draco--there is a lot of weird things going on between harry and draco and i believe that since it is sort of vague, it could wind up being this huge storyline that puts more tension between those two...just a guess though--i know when the book comes out we will probably all be surprised and amazed like the previous books have done thus far...
I know that JKR says its not Harry.... but it has also been revealed that in the 6th and 7th book we will learn a lot more about Lilly Potter and it will be very important to the plot. But then again if the Evans family were some kind of royalty aunt Petunia would know about it.I think that its harry and JKR is just trying to throw us off.
Oh My Goodness! Do you people READ anything?? I can't believe the crap I've been reading on here! If you've been to any sites that have decent info on Harry Potter and/or J K Rowling, then you'd know that J K has already stated that Mark Evans doesn't really have much relevance to the story. Also, Neville won't be it, he's fullblood. I believe that it will either be a new character or Justin Finch-Fletchley. At first I thought it was Hagrid, but then J K posted the info on her website that Hagrid won't be it. I think that magic_freak has a good point though... Hagrid DOES say that. So it truly could be anyone. Good job remembering that magic_freak!
JK Rowling clearly states that neither harry or tom riddle is the half blood prince. and it can still be neville longbottom because we don't know if his mothers parents were muggles, like Harry's? Lily was still a witch even though her sister isn't.
