Now that JK Rowling has officially named her next book who do you think is the half-blood prince?? I initally thought it could possibly be something to do with Neville Longbottom, but have since remembered that both his parents were wizards therefore he is full blood. Anyone any suggestions as to who it could possibly be??

Ok...think about it...we do know dumbledore's past...remember in cos when harry was sucked into riddle's memory?..ya...dumbledore was a teacher...it's probably not dumbledore...there might be more to his past...but i really doubt it...he's a really important character and already has the headmaster role...now he's the hbp?...no...not too likely...i also don't think that she'd give position to another student or non-adult wizard...it's about harry's life...not another child's...in her books she's been trying to make harry the most important child/teenager/non-adult wizard...the chances she's going to give another child this position are slim to none...i believe that it is definately not a person in the present time...and it probably is godric gryffindor like people have been saying...he's one of the ones that started the school...so i suppose that makes him royal...as important as he is...we don't hear too much about him...and the whole sword scene in cos..that proves he's royal...anyway...i think you should stop worrying and just wait for the book to come out for more clues
i think the half blood prince is either dumbledore or a new character. also, i don't think it's mark evans because if you go onto JK's site and text only version the you'll realise that JK said that mark evans was only a background person and wasn't important.
  1. neville is full blood so don't even think he is the half blood prince.

well i really don't like to guess because i could be guessing wrong.

but if you ask me i think is harry even j.k.r said it's not him ......besides isn't he always the one in everithing it would be strange if it' not him........

i think its Felix Felicis becuase at jkrowling.com there is a door that usually has "Do Not Disturb" posted but for halloween she took it off. Now you had to wait a couple of minutes and peeves appeared and knocked over the vase and ofcourse keys tipped out of it. You had to chose the right key and open the door. Once open she gives certain clues about her 6th Book. And Chapter 14 is called "Felix Felicis"

aight alllive opened da door but the thing is that i cant seem 2 get da clue out.

i read that some1 else said thatu hav 2 open a drw or something but i cant seem 2 get it open can sum1 plz help me

safe

Well,If neither Harry nor Dumbledore then it must be someone we dont know much and what i think is its Mark Evans (mentioned in book5).We dont know yet if hes a wizard or not but if he was ,he is 10 in book 5 and will probably be 11 in 6 and he will be a half blood as u have seen that hes got same sir name as harrys mother so he could also be harrys relative.

I think that seamus could be the halfblooded prince. In the first book, Seamus said that his mum was a witch and that his dad was a muggle. Which makes him a half-blood. But who knows, it could be a new person.

i would probably think that neville lonbottom is the HBP because at the end of HP5, there was a big discussion about neville and they say that he, possibbly could be the lord voldemort slayer!

Mark Evans is not the HBP he was only first mentioned in OoTP, therefore, he is not the HBP, I'm leaning towards Seamus myself, but hey, I may be wrong; it's JK Rowling we're talking about here! She throws some big surprises at us sometimes.
I think that the HBP is Hagrid. He's a half blood, and would definately be overlooked by most people, so JK probably wouldn't have to worry about anyone guessing it.
i myself was thinking that Hagrid might be the HBP but Ron might be the HBP because think about this, what if Ron was adopted and the Weasleys never told him. So he could be the HBP. also does anyone think she will bring Sirius back somehow, because i think she might. maybe Sirius crawlled out of the Arch after everyone left and was to weak to do anything but turn into a dog and get away from the MoM and hide. or she might even bring him back in the 7th book, but thise are just my thaughts on these subjects. but i think the HBP is Hagrid and she has to bring back Sirius, he was cool.
Have any of you guys thought of Dudley Dursley???
I think it could be Seamus Finnigan b/c if you remember in the 1st book he said he was half and half "Me Dad's a muggle... me mum's a witch... bit of a nasty shock for him when he found out" HAH So that is what I am thinking.. I have no idea though!!!
probably a new character
I think it's a new character. In my opinion there is nobody in CoS who can be the HBP. And I think Hagrid can't be the HBP, because by the giants they don't have royals. The strongest one is the boss. And have the door on JKR.com been open before? And I know my englisch is horrible.
Magic one, are you german? Because of the "c" in English. And her door has opened before. The first time to announce the title HBP and the second time for the piece of story ( someone wrote it down somewhere in one of the answers ).

I'd like to point out that in OotP it's pointed out that Harry has to go back to the Dursley's House because Petunia is the only person that share his mother blood. And that's what keep harry out of danger in the Dursley's house, it's due to the magic that Lily put on Harry and that's what saved harry from Voldemort's Havada Kedavra.
The Point is that nothing is told us about James Potter's family the only thing we know is that Sirius was often invited to his house for weekends (due to the fact he was expelled from the Black's Household).
Last thing is that Slytherin (the mages not the house) could have other heir other than Tom Riddle and that it might be halfblood too.
Why not talking about an heir of Gryffindor???

There is too much hipothesis and JKR isn't someone obvious enought to be guessed beforehand by her fans.

No, I'm Dutch and usually I write English without a c.

I believe that the half blood prince will indeed be a new character, i mean JK has always put surprises in her books, and she is very capable to include a new character and only explain him in two books. I would also like to ask if anyone knows when or where Mark Evans is mentioned in the 5th book? i have never read that part, but i would love to find out more. Oh and keep in mind JK has said that sometimes the answers to your questions are in the pervious books, so re read if you can and find all the clues!!!

Cheers

In OotP Harry says in the beginning before he's attacked "been beating up kids all day to show off withy your friends, I saw what you did to Mark Evans."  Also JK Rowling said that Mark's last name is just a coincidence.  I think the half-blood prince is Crookshanks.  I think he's an animagus that Voldemort put under a spell to put that way.  In OotP Moody shows Harry the picture, one of the original members disappeared.  I think it's the new character McLagen or some Irish name JK talks about on her site.  If your clever enough to find it, she describes anew character as "having a mane of bright orange fur, a squashed face, and he had a slight limp."  That's how she describes Crookshanks in Book 3.  That's my theory.
